The Lochmere neighborhood in Cary, NC added 10 new listing in January of 2014 compared to only 5 last year. More inventory could result in longer list times. However, the good news is that in February of last year there were 9 closed sales and 10 in March, so hopefully the same run up towards the Spring selling season will do a repeat performance. Overall the local housing market is strong and we are seeing multiple offers on many homes.

New Apartment Complex Coming Soon Near Lochmere

In June 2012 a land deal was finalized for a 12.5 acre property located at the corner of Cary Parkway and Tryon Rd.  Plans are to build a 205 unit apartment complex.  Lochmere residents voiced concern over the project, but it has been approved and will be constructed.

On the positive side, small business owners in the Lowes shopping center may see a benefit from an increase in traffic in the area.  Many business and restaurants in the shopping center have struggled, especially with the opening of Waverly Place just down the road.
